With all the planning need for your wedding day it can be easy to overlook or even forget about the perfume you will wear on the day. It may seem a trivial element to your day, but in fact fragrances are often the one thing that will trigger a happy memory in us and lead us to associate a particular scent with a particular event. With this in mind then you should give as much consideration to your wedding day perfume as you do your dress or shoes!

You may already have a favourite perfume or perhaps fancy something different for your wedding, but the one thing you should not do is rush your decision. Perfume is something that says something about you and which people may associate with you in the future. Do not go shopping with someone else as you could be led into buying something which really does not fit with who you are. Neither should you shop for your wedding perfume whilst wearing some as the clash of scents could be conflicting.

Here are some tips to help you find that perfect fragrance for your wedding day:

• Many women make the mistake of only smelling a perfume in the bottle rather than spraying it on their skin. By smelling in the bottle you will only get a rather diluted scent rather than how it would actually smell on your skin.

• Don’t rush your decision based on the first scent you get once applied to your skin. The true scent of a perfume takes about an hour to develop to spray the tester and then walk away for sixty minutes before making a decision.

• Don’t overload your senses by testing too many at once! Three or four in one sitting is more then sufficient as any more and your sense of smell will be confused. Try refreshing your sense of smell by wafting some coffee beans under it!

• Make a note of the fragrances you have tried and score them out of ten till you find the right one for your wedding day.
